Plum Island is a 7 mile long barrier beach. The PRWR extends 7 miles and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Parker River/Plum Island estuaries. It is a birdwatchers delight — an excellent place to observe warblers, shore birds, and water fowl. If you are lucky, you might spot white tail deer, red fox, coyote, skunks, and even an occasional beaver.

Sandy Point Reservation
Southern tip of Plum Island
Though is a bit of a drive (five miles through the PRWR) just getting there is beautiful. Located on Ipswich Bay, it is an excellent place to watch shore birds or explore tidal pools.

Salisbury State Reservation

Located where the Black Rock Creek flows into the Merrimack River, it is an excellent place for watching or exploring an estuary. During the winter (at low tide) you will see many seals sunning themselves on Badgers Rocks, a few yards off shore in the Merrimack River.

This museum is special due to the unique manor house built of stone and brick (c.1690). For over three centuries, this 230-acre farm had been an integral part of the local economy.
